New year dinner

I was at home, sleeping as i was recovering from the exhaustion (of the wedding) when fedo woke me up and asked me to get ready. He made reservations at Tamarind Spring.

I had no idea what or where the hell is Tamarind. I was not prepared (physically & mentally) for a crazy traffic to town but Fedo convinced me that it's nearby our place. Suprisingly, the journey took us 25mins and we were already in a jungle.

Tamarind is wonderful. It was exactly what i need. A peaceful, soothing and cozy area. I love that place! There was water features everywhere, and i can hear the sound of nature from every corner of the place. And they were pretty cretive with the lighting.

Let's see some pics i took using my Nokia 6600.

You gotta walk a little.

Water feature

More water

And more!
Lights

Fedo & Azli

Fedo & Me (too dark!)

Another one... still dark!

Now, let's check out the food. It features Laotian & Vietnamese cuisine. Which is not bad at all!

The Starters

Close-up: Notice that thing wrapped in leaves? You should try those. Fedo & Azli were laughing once the thing is in their mouth. I didn't even touch it.

Another piece of starters. It's chicken. Simply delicious.

The sauce... well decorated. haha

My main course... chicken something.. eaten with steamed rice

Vege

Can't remember what is this..

I had a nice coconut drink.

And enjoyed the dessert. I am currently addicted to the dragon fruit!

Above pic: Dont look at Fedo, check out the scenery behind him!!

Ok, now look at Fedo

And also, Azli

And Fedo again

I took this pic. I think it's not bad, considering that it was taken by Nokia 6600!

Happy New Year

Thanks for the nice dinner Fedo.

Cheers!

Shopping spree

I went for a shopping spree. Haha.. It's been a while since i went out for a crazy shopping.

I bought:

  • A ring for my mum -Habib Jewels
  • A watch for my dad -Orient
  • A gold locket with the word "T" for my niece, Tasneem
  • A nicely beaded kurta for myself
  • And few other smal stuff
  • Since my entire family is in town, i brought my siblings for dinner. They are very simple, so we had fun at Pizza Hut.

Alhamdulillah, I am blessed to get what I am getting, and my family deserved a treat.

P/S: Sorry, no pic available coz i was rushing to buy everything and by the time i got it done, i was already with my family.

    Cheers!

    Another Party

Me and fedo will be organising a party in March '08. It's a "Strictly By Invitation" party -open for our close friends. No boyfriend, girlfriend or partner is allowed. We had one last year, and it was a blast.

I was with Liena, Nana, Azli and fedo at lotus last night and we had a little discussion about it

Nana: Where are you hosting the party next year?
    Me: Lanson Place lah
Nana: Awh, please lah. Buat kat tempat lain pulak. Lanson dah buat this year (Let's do it somewhere else, we did it at Lanson this year)
Me: Ok, nak buat kat mana?
Nana: My company offers 40% off for most hotel within KL.
    Me: Huh? Really?

Nana: I have to get back to you which hotel lah..
    Me: Interesting! Where to do?
    Nana: MO nak? (Mandarin Oriental)
Me: Gosh, i was about to say that! Let's get their suite!
Nana: Ok! Eh, Nikko hotel is OK as well.
Me: Hurrmm.... yeah... Eh, Sime Darby Park is not bad!!
    Nana: Yeah, apartment is better!

Fedo: What are you guys talking about?
    Me: Venue for the party.
Fedo: Awh, I want The Ascott
    Me & Nana : Uuhhhh.....

    ***

Nana: I don't know whether it's in the list. But i'll check. It's ok, we can tong-tong for the place. (chip-in $ for the venue)
Me: Thanks, but it's ok. This party is fully sponsored by me & fedo. We can tong-tong for other parties :)
    Nana: Awh, ok.

[My friends are so adorable! Always tak berkira]

    ***

Me: Hey, now school uniforms is on sale. You guys better go do your shopping.
Nana: Gila ke... lambat lagi lah (Crazy.. Its too early)
Me: No, it's on sale now... i dont want you guys to be in trouble looking for school uniforms later on.
Liena: Aziz, school uniforms are available anywhere, anytime.

    ***

Me: Liena, i want you to wear a pinafore!
Liena: I told you i'm gonna be Cikgu Bedah (A Teacher)
Me: No no no... you have 2 options. Either A pinafore or a slutty cheerleader.
    Liena: [Smile & stare]

    ***

I can't wait for this party. And i have came up with a draft for the invitation + reminder to everyone to block their date and start planning on what to wear.

    *Excited*

    VIP Gift for the wedding

I spent the whole day looking for VIP gift for the wedding. My aunt has given me a budget, and my mum has warned me to get something nice.

I went everywhere, and gave up. On my way home, i drop by Ampang point to get something, and i saw this Iran shop. Got the best bargain ever!

This is a perfume vase (is it called vase?). They claimed it's gold plated. I like it because it goes with the overall theme. The wedding will be held Pakistani style, and this would be perfect!

    Me: How much is this?
Salesperson: Original price is RM200 per piece. But now we are having sale, it's on 50%.
Me: Ok, what if I take 10, can you give me a better deal?
Salesperson: [Calculating with his calculator] Ok, i can give you RM70 each.
Me: That's not good. You have to give me better price. You have 12, and basically you're clearing your stock. I'll take 10. Give me something good.
Salesperson: [Calculating again] Ok boss, i can give you 10 for RM500.

At this point of time, i was happy already. But i was also feeling greedy, and i somehow figured that i can negotiate this guy. haha..

Me: RM500 is still expensive for me. Ok, How about RM250?
Salesperson: That's not possible. Give me some money.
Me: Come on, I know you can.
Salesperson: [Calculating again] Cannot boss, give me some more money.
Me: Ok, I'll pay RM270 for all 10.
    Salesperson: Rm270? Ok.
    Me: OK? Go pack now!

Honestly, i was just trying my luck and i never thought he would agree with RM270!!!

While packing, i saw his face changed. And he look a little reluctant. But the deal is sealed....

I brought it to my usual place; a shop that sell all wedding stuff. And those people there are fantastic!. I went in, choose what i want and told them how i want it.

Me: Ok, boleh buat tak? (Can do or not?)
Lady: Boleh... Cantik sangat ni! (Can.. This is very nice!)
Me: Ok, i datang ambil lusa. Boleh siap tak? (I'll come in 2 days. Can get it done or not?
Lady: Abang boleh tunggu tak? Kita buat sekarang. (Can you wait for a while, we do it now)

I love the attitude. Make my work easier, and save my precious time.

She called her team and they were on to it.

Let's see the transformation, step by step.

Step 1: Find a nice box. Glue the bottle to the box.

Step 2: Put some fur-stuff behind it. And decorate the front part of the box with glittering beads.

    Step 3: Tadaaaaaaa.......

While waiting for them, i play around with some stuff at their shop, and suggested that they should do something like that. I went seach at thei candle department and found something. And guess what? They are making it for the shop and now it's on sale! Haha...

    Cheers!

    The "Mehndi"

    Date: 12th Dec 2007
Note: "Mehndi" in Malay is "Berinai"

Mehndi is a ceremony held a day before the nikaah. It is a small but very joyful event. It's the time for the family members to have fun and celebrate the groom before his actual wedding ceremony.

This event is usually held by and for the close family members but i always see people i don't know.. haha..

This is the set. Done by me.

    This is the decorated stands.

    This is the ceremony stuff.

Another ceremony stuff. I call it yellow sticky stuff. It is suppose to wipe off the dirt on one's face. DONT ASK!

This is Gulaab Jamen (Sweeeeeet stuff!)

This is Barfi (Another sweeeet stuff. My fav!)

This is the Mehndi Trays. It's prepared for the girls.

The girls and their trays. They were dancing and singging as they brought in the mehndi

Then, the groom was brought in by the aunties..

    The girls dancing and singging

Then, the ceremony continued with the aunties & uncles blessings (by putting a lil bit of mehndi on his hand, as well as putting this sticky yellow stuff on him). They also give him plenty of cash...

    Firdaus and his mum.

This is me, putting the sticky yellow stuff on his face!! haha

    Nice one!

This is my auntie tying the "Kangna" on my hand. All of his cousin brothers got one. I will explain the meaning of this thing during the wedding.

Later on, the girls had the privilage to ask him for cash! And he generously gave notes to his sister & the cousins

This was followed by dance! Everyone danced to a series of bhangra songs. Sorry i don't have any pics because i was busy dancin! It was totally fun!!

We had a group of guys and girls singging live. they were from the "Malaysia Punjabi Bhangra" group. It was awesome!

Then, the aunties proceeded with putting mehndi on his fingers

And we were busy taking pics. Left to right: Me, Azeema, Fareeza, Mira & Azmir

3 hours later, this is how i look like:

The event was truly something to remember. We had so much fun and the best part was it was full of love.
